When I am too weak to pray,

let weakness be my prayer;

When my pain is so great that no word can pass my lips,

let pain be my prayer;

When fear blinds my heart to hope,

let fear be my prayer;

When my heart no longer bends to your love,

let brokenness be my prayer;

When despair overwhelms my faith,

let despair be my way to you;

When my soul wanders in the empty desert,

let the desert cry out to you;

When love is darkened by my selfishness,

let the darkness ask for mercy;

When my sin makes me a stranger to life,

let sin cry out for forgiveness;

And when I stand before death,

let death become Life in you.
